Coorg (officially Kodagu district) is Karnataka's coffee-growing hill region, known for its estate stays, spice plantations, Abbey Falls and the Dubare elephant camp on the Kaveri river. Because it's a relatively short drive from Bangalore and close to Mysore, Ooty and Wayanad, most Ghumega India itineraries combine Coorg with one or more of these rather than visiting it alone.
October–March is the most popular window — cool, pleasant weather suited to estate walks and sightseeing. June–September is monsoon season, when Coorg turns especially lush and green, popular with travellers who enjoy the rains but less suited to those wanting dry outdoor days.
A short Bangalore-Coorg break works in 2–3 nights. Combining Coorg with Mysore and Ooty (or Wayanad) for a fuller South India hill circuit typically needs 5–7 nights.
Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport is the usual gateway, with Coorg then reached by road in roughly 5–6 hours. Mysore, a common combination point, is closer still, at around 3 hours from Coorg.
