The Golden Triangle is India's most travelled tourist circuit, linking three cities: Delhi, the capital, with Mughal-era monuments like Humayun's Tomb and the Red Fort alongside colonial-era New Delhi; Agra, home to the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort; and Jaipur, the Pink City, with Amber Fort, City Palace and Hawa Mahal. Its combination of manageable travel distances and iconic sights makes it a common introduction to India for first-time visitors.
October–March is the most comfortable window, with cool, dry weather suited to a lot of outdoor sightseeing. April–June gets very hot, particularly in Agra and Jaipur, and is generally avoided by most travellers.
The classic circuit works well in 3–4 nights, covering all three cities at a reasonable pace. Longer itineraries below extend to 5–6 nights for more time in each city, or combine the Golden Triangle with Himachal or a tiger safari for a fuller trip.
Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport is the main entry point, with Agra and Jaipur reached by road or rail — Agra is around 3–4 hours from Delhi by road or under 2 hours by the fastest trains, and Jaipur is roughly 5–6 hours from Delhi or a similar distance from Agra.
