Why Visit Himachal Pradesh?

Himachal's circuits are usually built around a handful of base towns: Shimla, the former colonial summer capital with its Mall Road and toy train link to Kalka; Manali, the state's most-visited hill town and gateway to Solang Valley and the Rohtang Pass; Dharamshala/McLeod Ganj, home to the Dalai Lama's residence and a strong Tibetan cultural imprint; Dalhousie and Khajjiar, quieter colonial-era hill stations; and Kinnaur–Spiti, a high-altitude cold-desert region for travellers wanting something more remote. Most Ghumega India itineraries combine two to four of these depending on trip length.

Best Time to Visit Himachal

March–June is the most popular window — pleasant weather across Shimla and Manali, with meadows in bloom. July–September is monsoon season; travel to landslide-prone stretches (especially toward Spiti) needs more flexibility. October–November brings clear autumn skies. December–February is snow season in Shimla and Manali, popular specifically for snow activities — Spiti Valley itself is largely inaccessible by road in deep winter.

How Many Days Are Enough?

A first Himachal trip covering Shimla and Manali comfortably needs 5–6 nights. Shorter 3–4 night trips work well if you're focusing on just Shimla or just Manali. Longer 8–12 night circuits (several of the itineraries below) add Dharamshala, Dalhousie, Kinnaur or a combination with Amritsar, the Golden Triangle or Katra's Vaishno Devi.

How to Reach Himachal

Bhuntar Airport (Kullu-Manali) and Shimla's Jubbarhatti airport have limited flight connectivity, so most travellers fly into Chandigarh and continue by road — roughly 7 hours to Manali or 3 hours to Shimla. By rail, Kalka is the nearest broad-gauge station, with the narrow-gauge toy train continuing on to Shimla.

Himachal Trip FAQs

Is Rohtang Pass included in Manali packages?
It depends on the specific itinerary and season — Rohtang Pass access is seasonal and sometimes permit-restricted. Confirm with your travel expert whether it's included or available as an add-on for your travel dates.
Can I visit Spiti Valley in winter?
Spiti is largely inaccessible by road for much of winter due to snow. Spiti-inclusive itineraries are generally best planned for the May–October window — ask your travel expert for current conditions closer to your dates.
Which is better for a short trip — Shimla or Manali?
Both work well for 3–4 day trips. Shimla suits travellers wanting colonial architecture and easier access; Manali suits those wanting more mountain/adventure activity. Several of the packages above focus on just one or combine both.
What should I pack?
Layered warm clothing year-round for the hills, heavier winter wear December–February, and rain protection if travelling in the July–September monsoon window.
How do I book or ask for a custom itinerary?
WhatsApp or call 09711 866 323, or use the Contact Us form — a travel expert will confirm dates, pricing and any customisation.
