Kanha National Park in Madhya Pradesh is one of India's larger tiger reserves, spread across sal and bamboo forests and open meadows. It's often mentioned as an inspiration for Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, and safaris here can turn up tigers, barasingha (swamp deer, a species Kanha has helped conserve), and a range of other wildlife and birdlife across its different safari zones.
February–June is generally the best window for wildlife sightings as drier conditions concentrate animals near water. The park is closed during the monsoon (roughly July to mid-October, exact dates vary by year).

Jabalpur Airport is the most commonly used gateway, with Kanha reached by road in around 4–5 hours. Nagpur's airport is also used, at a similar distance.
